3D Art Adventure by Maja Pitamic & Jill Laidlaw

Modern Books kindly sent us out this Arts & Crafts Book ‘3D Art Adventures’ to review recently.

It’s full of colour and creative ideas that I certainly wouldn’t think up on my own.

Split into 5 categories – Early Sculpture, Modern Sculpture, Installation, Ceramics & Collage – and with over 35 projects ranging from simple to intricate, it’s got something for everyone.

Yesterday we spent some time looking through it in the garden and the boys have earmarked lots of pages for things to try out on a rainy day. (Please, not soon, the weather is soooo good!) While it’s recommended for kids 6 years and upwards, there’s also some basic projects that slightly younger kids would be able for.

The Youngest (5) loved the idea of making the spider. I’m not the most creative Mammy when it comes to Arts & Crafts so having pictures and instructions is a must for me. Some clay and pipe cleaners is all that’s needed for that one, so even I can’t go wrong! (Watch this space..!)

The Eldest (7) loved the ‘Trick Hand’ illusion. A simple project that requires just a piece of paper, a pencil and a pen!

They both loved this picture and story of this house that appears to have slipped down but stays intact. Weird. They had some fun with the little “Think about…” section, putting their noses on their knees and trying to put their tummies on their toes!

A lovely book to have to hand with the Summer holidays coming up and some great detailed project ideas for older kids.

  1. Awesome giveaway thanks for the opportunity my Hannah and Devon would love this.Thank you for the opportunity

  2. This book sounds and looks like it has some wonderful, creative ideas for kids and I know my 3 & 5-year-olds would love working on the projects. So I’ve penned a little Limerick, in the hope that it will amuse 🙂

We’ve had 1D adventures in art,
To be honest, they’re not really the part,
But 3D you see, is the perfect key, to give my kids a really good start!
