A Recipe For Chocolate Heaven…

Me and a friend have been doing a baking course for a few weeks now.

I’m not the greatest at baking – hence the course! – and so far not much has been edible… until last night!

Last night we made Chocolate Pudding with sauce.

Oh sweet Lord it’s delicious! I’ve already scoffed a load of it this morning after the school run. (Take tinfoil off, have a small taste, put tinfoil back on, skulk around it eyeing it up, take tinfoil off, take another taste, put tinfoil back on..) That’s been me for the last half an hour!

Anyway seeing as that it was so delicious I thought I’d post the recipe for you to try if you like.

Chocolate Pudding with Sauce

(For sauce):
2 tbs cocoa powder
50g soft light brown sugar
200mlt boiling water
(For pudding):
75g soft margarine or butter
75g soft light brown sugar
50g self raising flour
3 tbs cocoa powder
3 eggs
1/2 tsp baking powder
Icing sugar to finish

Pre heat oven to 180c / 350f / gas mark 4. Make the sauce first:
Put the cocoa in a bowl and mix a little of the boiling water until it is a smooth paste. Gradually add in the rest of the water. 
For the pudding:
Grease an oven proof dish with maragrine or butter. Put all ingredients into a bowl and mix with an electric whisk until smooth. Spoon the mixture into the prepared dish amd smooth the top. Pour the sauce over the top. Bake in the centre of the oven for approx. 15 mins until all the sauce has sunk to the bottom and the sponge is well risen.
Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.

(The sauce will be runny, don’t be concerned that it should be thicker. When the pudding is cooked it should sort of wobble like a jelly when you move the dish.
This is fool proof. Believe me if I can bake this and for it to be not only edible, but delicious – approved by the kids – you can do it easily!)

    Oh dear, that looks lovely! I’d love to do a baking course but trying not to indulge my sweet tooth! How long can you claim baby weight for???
