Cheeky Kids!

I don’t know when my kids stopped being so angelic… or if they ever were. The eldest has definitely taken on the roll of ‘Cheeky little sod’ since turning 5. And the youngest tends to copy his big brother.. This morning they were in trouble for one reason or another, and I threatened Santa’s naughty list. “Santa’s watching you know, you’ll end up on the naughty list and you’ll get coal for Christmas!” The eldest has an answer for everything at the moment. He called my bluff. “That’s ok Mammy, I don’t mind if he gives me coal, I just won’t play with it.” The youngest got on board […]

Halloween

Halloween is a lot different to when I was a kid. (I feel old even using that expression) I remember Halloween as just a one day event – actual Halloween day – and my costumes were usually along the lines of a black sack as a cape, coal on my face and a cardboard witches hat. There was one year that I made a ghostbusters costume from cereal boxes and tinfoil which was pretty cool!. I wish I had a picture … although it’s probably likely that it was actually shit and I just can’t remember! My trick or treat bag (a normal plastic bag) was usually full of monkey […]

Who’s Idea Was The Clock Change Anyway!

Really… why do we need to put the clocks back? Why?? What good comes from it?? All the hassle for them to go forward again in a few months! Yesterday I was all smug and happy and well slept because I got ’til 7.55am before anyone came near me. Last night I let them stay up a bit late thinking “Surely since they slept in this morning and are up late we will all get a lovely lie in tomorrow. Yes, this will definitely work” I heard my eldest in the loo. Checked my phone. 5.55am. Five. Fifty. Five. Am. He came into my bed and closed his eyes. I […]

Hallelujiah A Lie In!

My eldest arrived down at 7.55. 7.55!!! Heaven. My eldest normally wakes anytime between 6am – 6.30am. He goes through phases of it and it feels like years since I’ve slept passed that time! I’m having the perfect start to the midterm! The kids are still up in their room watching the ipad. Himself is down making me a cup of tea and an egg on toast.  This almost makes up for not winning the Euromillions last night. Dare I imagine the whole week could be like this????…. Heaven. 🙂

He Has A Girlfriend!

This week, my eldest told me he has a new “girlfriend” in school.. It all started out very cute. I smiled and cooed and awww’d at the thought of my little boy liking a girl. She’s in Junior Infants apparently.  For the last 3 mornings now, instead of running around the school yard like a hooligan waiting for the bell to ring, he’s been standing there looking over to her line, waiting to see her.. Ok… still cute and sweet, I thought, but also a little unnerving. So yesterday he made her a beaded flower at home. He put it in his school bag to keep it safe, and it was the […]

Hectic Wednesday…

Wednesday is always a bit hectic in our house. It’s fine ’til 12.30 when it’s time to collect the youngest from pre-school, then it just becomes exhausting and chaotic.  The eldest has after school activities on a wednesday, so between 12.30 and 4.15 I am in and out of the car a total of 8 times!! Collect the youngest, home. Collect the eldest, home. Bring the eldest to theatre, home. Collect the eldest from theatre, home. It’s normal by the last collection on a wednesday for me to start loathing the site of the car..!  Today two things happened to add a sprinkling of extra stress to the day.. you […]

The Second Blog…..

This weekend me and the kids took the train to the country to visit family. Normally we drive but decided the kids would enjoy a bit of public transport for once! I reserved seats for the kids and was stuck in a fairly embarrassing situation when a couple where sitting in them. It was very awkward but they were apologetic and moved for us. I was full of “sorry, sorry about that, sorry again, thanks.” As it turns out I was looking at the wrong seat numbers on the tickets and turfed the poor couple out of their own seats. Felt really bad but sure what’s done is done.. Kids […]
