Steroids In My Ass & Other Fun Things…

Firstly, if there’s a whole bunch of spelling mistakes it’s because I’m typing this on my phone from my hospital bed so bare with me.. 😊 This morning I had my latest check up in the clinic. I’m 38+1. I’d been told they would most likely induce me or break my waters at this stage with the Gestational Diabetes but at the same time I wasn’t sure of a definite plan so I was excited and nervous and curious coming in here today. Well, it all turned in to a bit of a crap fest fairly fast to be honest. 😂 So baby is oblique again. This is exactly what […]

37 Week Gestational Diabetes Growth Scan…

So at 32 weeks pf this pregnancy I was sent for the Sugar Test because the baby was measuring 2 weeks larger..  … and was subsequently told I had Gestational Diabetes and have been pricking my fingers 5 times a day ever since and not eating anything – well, nice basically – to keep an eye on my blood sugar levels.  Today, at 37 + 2 I had a growth scan to give me an idea of how big of a baby we’re dealing with here.  I’ve been really uncomfortable since Sunday. Like, REALLY uncomfortable. Every step I take I feel like I need to pee again and I’m doing the […]

36 Week & Gestational Diabetes Update…

Ah the last month. Where time stands still!!!  Today I’m 36 + 2 and starting to feel like I’ve been pregnant for 100 years.  But my spirits were lifted slightly yesterday at my latest check up because it’s finally feeling like we’re near the end!  So basically, when you have GD they won’t let you go over because they don’t want the baby to get too big. “Generally” they will induce you around 38 weeks. So that seems to be the plan so far – which means 2 weeks to go!! Now, THAT sounds better!  It’s too hard for them to get anywhere near an accurate measurement of the baby […]

34 Week & Gestational Diabetes Update…

So, today I am 34 + 4.  On Wednesday I had my 34 week update. Technically I was just due a GP visit this week but because I was sent for the Sugar Test after week 32 and subsequently diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes I was to go back to the Coombe to check on the toddler’s… – sorry, baby’s – … size.  Wednesday was one of those days in the Coombe. It was swamped. Mad busy. My appointment was at 11.10am and honestly about two minutes before my name was called at 12.35pm and the room was emptying I was starting to panic that my file hadn’t made it into […]

32 Week Pregnancy Update…

So, up to now on this pregnancy I’ve had a lot of “You’re a nice size for your dates” from the Doctor/GP, and ,as a petite person who’s had 2 fairly large babies for my size I was starting to think “Ooh, maybe this one will be all small and dainty and be out in 3 pushes!”  Yeh that’s not gonna happen it doesn’t seem. 32 + 1 and I went in for my next check up in the Coombe. The baby is measuring 2 weeks larger than my due date. She smiled and told me in a jolly tone that it’s likely to be a big baby. Wonderful. She […]

30 Week Pregnancy Update…

Wow 30 weeks. How are we here already?? Genuinely flew in!! I suppose moving house & changing schools in the middle of it all probably helped! It was a hectic time to say the least!!! If you want to catch up on what that was like you can read our announcement here. or our post on changing schools here. 30 weeks feels like a massive milestone. 10 weeks left and the countdown will be well and truly on after Christmas.  Everyone is telling me I’m neat, that the bump is small and cute. I can’t say it particularly feels small and cute. Certainly not in the middle of the night […]

9 Questions You Will Always Get Asked During Pregnancy…

Be prepared. As soon as you announce you’re pregnant, you’re going to hear the same questions over and over again for the entire pregnancy. They don’t bother me in fairness, it’s just funny, but don’t touch my belly! Not unless you at least know me and you’ve asked first! WHAT IS THAT?  Here’e a little preview of your life for 9 months:  ~ How far along are you? A fair question, but you’d be better off just hanging a sign around your neck with a countdown or stating your due date for the amount of times you’ll be asked this question.  ~ How are you feeling? I sort of take this […]

What’s In My Hospital Bag…

There’s about a billion posts about this but here’s another one anyway 😉  34 weeks gone. 5 to go! Hospital bag is more or less ready to go!  I greatly considered buying those pre packed hospital bags. I was so close to clicking that “Buy Now” button, but the budgeter in me decided I could do it on the cheap myself. Great idea though if you just don’t want the hassle. My bag is from Penneys. It was €17! I have a wheelie travel size bag too and the baby changing bag. (I know, I’ll look like I’m booking in for a month!)    Everything I bought is either Dealz, […]
