What It’s Like To Be Sick As A Parent…

So yesterday I was struck down with either a vomiting bug or food poisoning. Couldn’t tell you what it was.  It came out of nowhere, wreaked havoc and then left! I  collected the kids from school, got homework done and then literally spent the rest of the day hugging the toilet bowl.  I’m up there puking away in the en suite and of course the kids end up in there with me.  There’s me trying to reclaim some of my dignity while I sit on the en suite floor and the boys are asking me all sorts.  “Did you really get sick Mammy?” “Was it gross?”  “Can I see?” The 6 […]

3 Reasons Why I Love The Internet This Weekend…

Life is hectic and serious and often very weird, but sometimes the Internet brings us all the lol’s and cheers us up. These 3 videos are making me smile over and over this weekend. No. 3. This Beyoncé / Thomas The Tank Engine remix. Apparently created in 2015 but doing the rounds at the moment. It’s sort of hypnotic!  No. 2  Ed Sheeran. B*Witched. It shouldn’t work. BUT IT DOES. I actually genuinely love this!  But right up there at No. 1. Take a bow family. Take a bow. You made my weekend.  WATCH: BBC live interview interrupted by adorable kids – Independent.ie Robert E Kelly, a BBC correspondent was delivering […]

The People v. OJ Simpson – Netflix

In the space of about 3 days I’ve absolutely binge watched The People v. O.J. Simpson on Netflix.  I’d seen the trailer on the Netflix twitter page and thought it looked good.  An ‘American crime story’ would never have been my thing before. If I just came across this on “normal tv” I honestly probably wouldn’t watch it. That’s what I love about Netflix. It opens me up to shows I usually wouldn’t watch.  In my last Netflix post I said the same thing about Bloodline. Wouldn’t normally have gone for it but it’s bloody brilliant! Roll on Season 3 (and more drooling over Kyle Chandler!)  Anyway, presumably everyone and anyone […]

Being Organised Is Pointless…

Parenting –  Be organised and leave the house in plenty of time for school.  Arrive at the school with time to spare. Park. Turn off the ignition. Take a moment to relax.  This is the point where one child will say “Oh. I was supposed to bring in my favourite book for World Book Day” Debate leaving it so he learns a lesson but let Parenting Guilt get the better of you.  Drive back home in full blown rant mode at your child about responsibility. Maybe throw in that it’s costing more petrol money driving back home and back to school again. Get home and send your child in for […]

My Nametags Labels Review & Giveaway…

My Nametags are an Irish company founded in 2004 creating fun sticker labels & iron – ons for kids. If you have kids of school going age you’ll know that they lose everything! I’m a big fan of labels and have used them since the kids went to Montessori. My Nametags kindly sent me out some of their products to review, and the good news is there’s a giveaway too!  I genuinely have always used stickers and iron – ons for the kids. On everything. EVERYTHING. Lunchboxes, Beakers, School Bags, Pencil Cases, Books, Trousers, Tracksuits, Shirts, T-Shirts, Jumpers, Shoes, Jackets… literally everything! If you have still to experience the school […]

When Coughs Ruin Lives…

Coughs.  They’re so f*cking annoying.  It’s the 5 year old’s turn to have one right now.  I got him some cough medicine over the weekend. He hates the taste of it and every spoonful he has to take gets more dramatic than the last.  He gags. Cries. Scrunches his face up in agony. Clutches his throat. Gasps for a drink of juice to take away the – apparently – painfully agonizing taste that is cough medicine.  It appears to be doing f*ck all too so that’s great.  Like most coughs, during the day it doesn’t appear to be too bad. Then the night comes. The dark hour. Last night was […]

Bloodline – My Latest Netflix Obsession…

I’ve been looking for a new series to watch on Netflix after my Gilmore Girls binge before Christmas, and I’ve found it with Bloodline. I won’t lie. House of Cards lost my interest slightly. Season 3 just wasn’t doing it for me. I still want to get back into it, and I will. I’ve heard great things about Season 4, but I just felt like taking a break from it for a while, especially over Christmas (It’s not very festive is it!) So we spent December mainly having a laugh  watching The Royle Family! It was actually my Mam who recommended Bloodline! She was explaining what it was about […]
