What’s In My Hospital Bag…

There’s about a billion posts about this but here’s another one anyway 😉  I posted recently about how I started my hospital bag early (Due early Feb.) because with Christmas in the middle it’s going to fly by (She says optimistically!!) and I don’t want to be worrying about getting sorted in January when I’m huge and probably being air lifted out of bed in the morning after all the Roses and Quality Streets!  I greatly considered buying those pre packed hospital bags. I was so close to clicking that “Buy Now” button, but the budgeter in me decided I could do it on the cheap myself. Great idea though […]

25 Week Pregnancy Update…

Today I’m 25 weeks & 3 days. My “tip” for today according to my app is that I’ll get frequent back pain. (Hardly a tip really..) and yes, the app hasn’t told me anything I don’t already know. Back pain is alive and well. Getting up from slouching on the sofa or lying down has become far from glamorous I’m sure to look at. I’ve started to ask the boys to pick things up for me (to be fair it’s usually their own pants!) Yesterday my 6 year old responded that I should just “bend with my knees”. Yeh. Pick up your pants thanks!!  I’ve been low on energy this […]

Halloween & Those B*starding Sparklers…

Halloween has become this massive big deal now.  In all honesty, I think it’s a load of shite. Couldn’t be arsed about it at all.  Yes we put out some mediocre decorations, carved (I, I carved!) pumpkins and stuck them outside the front door, and we did a Halloween outing over the weekend, but my Halloween enthusiasm is basically zilch. Nothing.  God be with the days were you got into a black sack, stuck some coal on your face and if you were lucky had some witches fingers or vampire fangs! 😉  It goes on for feckin’ weeks now. In my eyes it’s just something to get over and done […]

Christmas Shoebox Appeal

Every year I hear about the Christmas Shoebox Appeal and I’m adamant this year that I will start including it in our Annual Christmas Traditions. What a great way to teach our kids about charity, humility and compassion for those that have little to nothing.  My kids will be lucky enough again this year to wake up in their cozy house on Christmas morning and sit around their Christmas tree ripping open all the toys they’ve asked for. They deserve to of course, but I want them to be grateful for all these things that they have, so we’re taking part in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal with Team Hope.  Every […]

Johnny Magory Book Review and GIVEAWAY…

Have you heard the story about Johnny Magory? The Adventures Of Johnny Magory is a range of children’s books by Irish Author Emma Jane Leeson. They’re illustrated, edited and printed in Ireland and are proud members of ‘Guaranteed Irish’.  The story follows 6 year old Johnny Magory and his dog, Ruairi, as they embark on different adventures which usually land him in a little bit of trouble with his Mammy.  Emma Jane got the idea for her books from stories her own parents would tell her as a child – usually from whatever mischief she’d gotten up to herself that day! There’s three books available so far.  Johnny Magory in […]

23 Weeks Pregnancy Update…

I’m finally in that nice part of the second trimester. Well, more or less.  I’m not falling asleep half of the time, and my face doesn’t look like a dot to dot puzzle anymore with all the spots I was getting in the first trimester.  I have what they call an “upper anterior placenta” which means the placenta is to the front. Sorry for using the word placenta so much if you’re leisurely reading this over a cup of coffee and a snack!   Anyway, it means I wasn’t feeling that many kicks when all the websites were boasting “Oh your little baby is kicking away now” on those weekly updates […]

Don’t forget I’m running a competition on Facebook to win either one […]

Getting Your Kids Ready For School In 14 Easy Steps…

Step 1.  It’s a new day. You will all be civil and courteous and normal today. You will hug and laugh and smile before school and they will remember you as the kind, nourishing, gentle Mammy that you are while they think of you during their school day. (Odds are they don’t give you a second thought but just incase like.) Step 2.  They’ve been playing happily since they woke up so leave them to finish up their game and head downstairs to prepare a loving, nutritious breakfast. (Okay, pour some cereal.)  Step 3.  In the chirpiest of voices, call your children down for breakfast. They’ve had plenty of play […]
