Airfield Estate Review…

Airfield Estate is Dublin’s only 38 acre working farm open to the public, and is situated in Dundrum.  Now a charitable organisation for education and recreation, Airfield consists of a farm, gardens, woodlands, play areas, a café and a heritage experience of the house that once belonged to the Overends family back in the 1800’s. You can read about the history of it here.  We’d never been to Airfield before and they very kindly offered to have us out for a visit.  We were lucky enough to get a bit of sunshine when we got there on sunday morning. As soon as we went through the entrance I could tell it […]

Organix Punk’d Oaty Bars Review…

Organix have launched a new snack, PUNK’D Oaty Bars, aimed at older kids (5 years and up) and they sent us out a box of each for the kids to review.  Over the last couple of years I’ve taken a lot of snacks off the shopping list, particularly after dentist visits. Honestly I never really put much thought into the content of certain things they were eating until we started dentist checkups and I got a bit of a bollocking about sugar content.  We’ve banned cereal bars, a big culprit with a massive amount of sugar. Diluted juice like ribena is only used the very odd time and I’m lucky […]

Freddy Buttons Books – Review and GIVEAWAY…

8 year old Freddy Buttons lives in Tumbledown Village with his dog, Juno, and his Mam & Dad, Kitty & Ted Buttons. Freddy has lots of animal pals to help him out with any mysterious goings on. They call themselves the F.B.I…. The Freddy Buttons Investigators.  The books are described as ‘food adventure books’ and are all based on their homegrown food and a new mystery that the F.B.I. have to solve. The author, Fiona Dillon, a food writer, blogger and broadcaster, uses her books to help educate kids, in a fun way, about where their food comes from. Tumbledown Media kindly sent us out all 6 Freddy Button books to review.  We love […]

Denzil The Magician Review…

So back in February, Denzil, a Dublin based popular kids magician, got in touch with me asking if I’d like him to do a kids show in exchange for an honest review. We had our son’s 5th birthday coming up so it was perfect timing. We had it all booked, but of course the 5 year old decided to be very sick that particular week, and we had to cancel his party. It’s a very sad state of affairs cancelling a 5th birthday party.  The 7 year old’s birthday has also been and gone. He told me he “just wanted to go out for a meal” this year (McDonalds!) so […]

3D Art Adventures Review And GIVEAWAY…

Modern Books kindly sent us out this Arts & Crafts Book ‘3D Art Adventures’ to review recently.  It’s full of colour and creative ideas that I certainly wouldn’t think up on my own.  Split into 5 categories – Early Sculpture, Modern Sculpture, Installation, Ceramics & Collage – and with over 35 projects ranging from simple to intricate, it’s got something for everyone.  Yesterday we spent some time looking through it in the garden and the boys have earmarked lots of pages for things to try out on a rainy day. (Please, not soon, the weather is soooo good!) While it’s recommended for kids 6 years and upwards, there’s also some basic projects […]

Imaginosity Review And GIVEAWAY!

The big Easter break continues! So far we’ve done Dublin Zoo and Tayto Park, and our third big day out this Easter was to Imaginosity, Dublin Children’s Museum, in Sandyford.  We were there a few years ago when the kids were 2 and 4 and they loved it. This time round at 5 and 6 (almost 7) they loved it even more.   They get a 2 hour time slot where they can roam freely through the interactive museum and let their imaginations take over.  There’s everything from a kids shopping centre and diner to news reporting, play doctors, building, trains…. There’s so much for them to do they were constantly going.  You know […]

Tayto Park…

Our second big day out this Easter following our trip to Dublin Zoo was to Tayto Park in Ashbourne, Meath.  We’d never been before and after showing the kids all the attractions on the website there was great excitement.  All week long the 5 year old kept saying “I can’t wait to go to Potato Park!” “How many sleeps ’til Potato Park?”  So it’s been christened Potato Park in our house now! Hilarious!  We got a good day weather wise so we were lucky there. We went early to be there for opening time at 10am while the sun was shining. It wasn’t overly busy so no major queueing to get […]

Dublin Zoo…

I desperately want to keep the kids as busy as possible for the next 2 and a half weeks for my sanity.  So we kickstarted our Easter Holidays today with a trip to Dublin Zoo in the Phoenix Park.  I love the Zoo. Always have. I’ve great memories of it as a kid.  We easily passed 4 hours there this morning, and the kids loved it so much that those 4 hours were completely enjoyable, fun and drama free! Parenting win!  We were very lucky today to get some brilliant photos of a tiger close up. It’s not often you see them so close, so we were all excited. (Me!!!)  We also lucked […]
