We’re So Over School…

We’re tired. We’re all just tired.

3 weeks left and all will and enthusiasm has left us.

We had a 4 day weekend with the Bank Holiday and the tuesday off. The sun was splitting the trees. There was bbq’s and ice-pops and trips to powerscourt playing barefoot on the rocks. It was all lovely.

It sort of felt like we were on our Summer holidays already, so laying out uniforms on tuesday night just felt so wrong. They’re still awake after 9pm every night – my desperate pleas for them to go asleep don’t seem to be working – so they’re a bag of rats in the morning.

Getting them up, dressed and out the door the last 2 mornings has been about as easy as herding cats. They are beyond fed up with school now and are desperate for the break.

The 5 year old is finishing Junior Infants and when I say he’s exhausted! He’s an emotional rollercoaster and will cry at absolutely anything the last week. Anything.

Tell him to eat his dinner? Tears. Get ready for bed? Tears. Can’t find his shoes? Tears. Struggling with a level on Angry Birds? Tears. Anything at all? Tears tears and more tears!

The only silver lining is that they’re at least finished with homework. Thank. God. Because we know how that goes down

3 more weeks. We’ll drag ourselves through it and then here’s to giving the middle finger to lunchboxes, uniforms, school runs, homework, after school crankiness, teachers notes, all of it.

Summer – we’re ready for you! Bring. It. On.

I woke up this morning and just thought “No. No. Surely we can’t be expected to go through this morning routine again today?” But apparently we were. All the sighs.

God, Im glad Im not the only one. Bedtimes are never ending these days, past nine every night. Everyone is exhausted in the mornings. Zero energy. (also ps my six year old will not leave the house until he has found the one exact piece he is looking for in the lego mountain)
