What We’re Watching On Netflix…

So anyone following me on Facebook or Twitter will know that I was Gilmore Girls nuts over the last few months. I was obsessed. I watched it so much that I was nearly relieved when I finished!! I loved it and I could definitely watch it all again some time. If you’ve just started it or are in the middle of it I’m so jealous. If you haven’t watched it you should defo put it on your list! I’m dying for Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life. Can’t wait!

I got back into Grace and Frankie after Gilmore Girls and absolutely loved it. All the characters worked brilliantly together, but for me the best was Brianna, played by June Diane Raphael. June plays one of the daughters, and just killed it with a fantastically sarcastic, dry, witty sense of humour. Loved her. There’s only 13 episodes in each season so it was short but sweet, but apparently a Season 3 is on it’s way…. although not until May 2017. I would have loved to watch more of it.

Finding something to watch after two brilliant shows hasn’t been easy. I’m trying to convince myself to watch really popular shows like ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Orange Is The New Black’. I’m trying to, but I’m just not really into serious or dark or creepy or depressing. I’m very much in a happy la la land and watch shows that just make me giggle. I WILL watch them eventually. I will. Fellow bloggers are telling me I HAVE to watch ‘Stranger Things’, so I’ll get into that soon.. but for now I’ve landed on ‘Don’t Trust The B—- In Apt 23.

I’m only 3 episodes in but so far it’s not bad. The basic story line is that a small town innocent girl moves to New York, and all the plans she had go to crap. She ends up renting with a girl who turns out to be a major con-artist, but they become friends somehow… I’m still finding my way around it and getting into it so we’ll see….

Kids Netflix

In my last Netflix post I mentioned that the kids were big into Horrid Henry. Henry is forever belittling his brother, and being cheeky and rude. He’s a bit of an asshole basically and a bad influence, and I found it was coming out in the Eldest. So Horrid Henry is no more.

They’re watching a lot of Spongebob on the tablet at the moment, and they’ve watched Curious George ‘Follow That Monkey’ a good few times. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a brilliant movie. My kids have been watching it for years on and off. We had it on holidays in Spain a couple of years ago and it saved us. George is so lovely and calming. It’s one of those movies that they watch in absolute silence. I’ve always loved Curious George for that reason. Also, the music soundtrack to it is brilliant! There’s some really nice songs on it.

So that’s what we’re watching at the moment. Let me know in the comments what you’re watching, and if there’s anything you recommend. 🙂

Note: I was given a free subscription to Netflix for me to post updates on what we're watching. All views are my own.

I was in exactly the same boat and grieving after finishing Gilmore girls. I felt like I had lost a hood friend so now I am on ‘the good witch’, which is nice and fluffy. Also good is ‘offspring’. Good luck with finding a new programme to obsess about

Agreed. Horrid Henry is a total scut. I am considering banning him here too!

I was a massive Gilmore Girls fan. Watched it all on my first maternity leave. Cannot WAIT for the new stuff on Netflix! Do you think it will live up to our expectations?

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt would fit perfectly in Happy La La Land! Have you watched it? It’s funny. And light. And daft. We loved it here. And another of my absolute, absolute faves was Parenthood (with Lauren Graham and yer boyo from Six Feet under and Kristen Bell’s husbanf in real life). So good. It was on Netflix at one point. Not sure if it’s still there. Have you seen it? Perfect fodder for tired mommas. Mr C. wasn’t into it because he reckoned ‘nothing exciting really happens’. ‘Eh, welome to my world, buddy! That’s parenthood!’ So don’t mind Mr C! It’s moving and honest and lovely. And the characters are all great. Totally relatable stuff and the writing is quick and quippy in the vein of the Gilmore Girls. Ish.
